Vitter announces federal crime fighting initiatives for Louisiana State Police
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Sen. David Vitter announced today that the
Department of Justice Office of Community Oriented Policing Services
will provide more than $4.5 million in grant awards to the Louisiana
State Police. This federal funding will be awarded through the COPS
Technology program. “Information
sharing between federal, state and local law enforcement officials is
vital to our public safety,” Vitter said. “The COPS Tech program
recognizes this and helps improve the data sharing effort.”
The COPS Technology program provides federal funding to local and state
enforcement officials for technology that improves data information
sharing. The Louisiana State Police will specifically use this funding
to expand statewide interoperable communications.

Vitter passed legislation last year that allows FEMA and other federal agencies to share information with state and local law enforcement following a major disaster such as hurricanes to assist in the tracking and detaining of parole violators and other wanted criminals who could present a threat to public safety.
“Our law enforcement is tasked with an incredibly difficult job,” said Vitter. “These programs are vital to helping them continue the work of strengthening and bettering our communities here in Louisiana.”

It is my opinion that the state of Louisiana has not demonstrated any kind of civilized, humane, intelligent skills in law enforcement and therefore, does not deserve $4.5 million dollars to continue the kind of law enforcement its lawmakers and law enforcers are currently engaged in. I believe that someone should write U.S. Senator David Vitter and make him aware of the Jena 6 crisis/situation (obviously he is not, or he wouldn't "reward" the state with these kinds of funds. Yeah, right.) and suggest that the $4.5 million from the Department of JUSTICE be rescinded until every single city and town within the state of Louisiana, including Jena, demonstrate that they understand the meaning of the word "JUSTICE".
