I decided to write a blog after trying unsuccessfully to get someone in the media to investigate, or just write or talk about what happened to my son at the hands of the federal government. Ivan Eberhart is a 38 year old African American male, who was wrongfully prosecuted for a crime he did not commit after being lied on by a convicted felon seeking leniency (who admitted he lied, and so was not brought to trial). The details are so horrendous, I thought anyone hearing them would be as shocked and horrified about the corruption of the federal criminal justice system. I am hoping those of you reading my blog will understand how very wrong this situation is. I hope you will join me in speaking out about this grave injustice as well as the injustices perpetrated against so many African American and Latino citizens of this country -- in the name of the "war on drugs."
This has been going on for over eight years. It began in 1998. During that time I have learned a lot about things such as false prosecutions, so-called "snitch" laws, drug conspiracy laws, defective indictments, and on and on and on. Ultimately, I have learned enough to realize that this blog cannot be just about Ivan. There are nearly a million men and women who are in federal prisons because of this war on drugs and the mandatory minimum sentencing laws. So, this is about all of them. This is about justice -- something that is sorely lacking in our justice system today.
So, although I will begin this blog by telling Ivan's story -- and it's a long one. I will also share with you some stories of other victims of the war on drugs. I also invite anyone who is a victim of the war on drugs, or who has a son, daughter, wife, husband, niece, nephew, aunt, uncle, mother, father, cousin, friend, acquaintance, etc., who has in anyway been victimized by this "war on drugs" to email me at saintswriter@aol.com because there is strength in numbers, because we cannot afford to continue to remain silent as our children are taken away , some for decades -- many for life. I'd like to think that I am not alone in wanting to bring about change. I want to assure others who are in this type of situation that you are not alone. There are many of us, and together we can make a difference.

Injustice is happening all around the country and the main media and many so-called progressive news outlets tend to ignore the stories such as this one. It is this lack of concern and involvement in holding our court officials responsible that has played a role in the continuation of the the injustices known moreso in the Black and Latino communities than any other.
